This playground is located between estates at Caiseal Cam, Ros Caoin and Boireann Bheag. It is situated on a gentle slope, facing the sea, with unobstructed views over Galway Bay and its environs. From the Dublin Road, pass Galway Crystal and turn right at the third set of traffic lights on the Dublin Road, drive approx 100m on this road and turn left before the Spar shop and continue on. To get to the playground take the second turn on your right (it is numbered 168-208). There is designated parking available for visitors to the playground. As well as the playground there are enclosed tennis courts, kickabout courts and various grass pitches. There are also smaller play areas throughout the estates and in Boireann Bheag there is a toddler play area. Within this area there is a toddler swing with cradle seat, a roundabout and two springers.
The spica is a uniquely designed, delightful, challenging piece of rotating playground equipment. Children love to spin and they will be determined to master this piece of equipment and stay on the longest. Spinning is important in developing the vestibular system for children and is essential for their balance. So even if they spin until they are dizzy you can rest easy as you will know they are in fact improving their balance! Set in a park environment with lots of space to run and play freely children will be keen to return to this playground over and over again. There are also pathways throughout the park if parents want to take a stroll.
